Accessible and useful
By Shelly H.
I've used this text in a college classroom for two semesters and feel comfortable with the format, which emphasizes genres of writing that students may encounter in their college career: report, argument, evaluation, causal analysis, oral report, and so on. It's designed to mimic hyperlinks, so that if you want more information or guidance on a point of writing (borrowing from sources, getting ideas, revising), the book directs you to those pages. There is a decent section on research, with MLA and APA guides. A hefty portion of the book includes readings that further illustrate the genres. One thing I wish it had is a discussion of what constitutes common knowledge, but this can easily be found elsewhere.

horrible

Okay, its not exactly what it says it is. The actual 2nd edition version of this book is 900ish? When I received the book it was only 630 pages, I asked around and this book that I ordered is a sample version. So I ended up falling behind in class and having to withdraw, so I don't get a refund for my english class and I got a worthless book out of it. By the way, the actual book is cheaper than the sample version
