Terrific set of flash cards - and no need to wait until your youngster's 3 years old for the learning to begin!
By Grandma Zizzy
We'd purchased a couple of different Priddy Books "Wipe Clean" products for our oldest grandson's 2nd birthday, a board book with letters and these flash cards with numbers, which come in a nifty, super durable plastic case. Yes, the age recommendation is "3+", but don't hesitate to purchase a set of these for a youngster who's younger... I know I sound like your typical proud grandma (I am!), but both our oldest and middle grandsons recognized their numbers from 1-20 long before they turned 2, and though the intention of these flash cards is to help them practice actually writing their numbers (a skill that they typically wouldn't be ready to tackle until @ 3 years, and I don't think you want most 2 year olds handling marker pens), these are terrific not only for reviewing numbers, but also for learning about SO many different things well before they're ready to begin writing!
The "Look Inside" feature (showing the first 4 cards) on this listing gives you a pretty good feel for what these 8-3/4"H x 4-7/8"W are like, and they've got a good thickness (and therefore durability!) to them. (I do want to point out though, that the listing says 30 cards, 3 wipe-clean colored "pens" & cloth, and stickers... it could be we misplaced some things over the past 5 years, since we only have 26 cards, 2 Priddy markers - black and red, though I seem to vaguely recall a green one - the cute little 5" x 5-3/8" cloth with smiley faces all over it, and though I don't remember stickers coming with it, my memory's not what it used to be! But I also want to point out that ours - although showing all of the same pictures on front/back, are slightly different... i.e. for the #1, our card's "1" doesn't have the little left slanted line at the top of the 1, and the spelled-out "one" has letters that are printed the way you'd learn to do it in school... i.e. the "n" doesn't have that little loopy thing at the bottom, and the "e" isn't rounded, so obviously there are some changes to this set over the one we purchased. I actually prefer the cards we have, since if you're eventually going to use these to practice writing, you want to start out teaching them the way they're going to be taught to write numbers/letters in school, without all of the fanciful extras.)
If you've heard enough, read no further, but for anyone interested in knowing what the rest of the cards are, I'll list them (at least the additional 26 cards WE have, less the 4 already shown in the preview), stating first what's shown on the front of the card, followed by the activities on the back of the card). The number cards are as follows: 5 fish/"Write the number of boats in the box" (5 sailboats shown), "Circle the five sea horses swimming the same way" (5 shown going right, 2 shown going left). 6 butterflies/"Circle the ladybugs with six spots" (6 lady bugs shown, 2 with 6 spots), "Circle the bugs with six legs" (6 bugs shown, 5 with 6 legs). 7 buttons/"Write the number of hats in the box" (7 hats shown), "Circle each number 7 on the clocks" (2 clocks shown). 8 bunnies/"Circle the toy with eight legs" (4 toys shown including an octopus), "Circle the eight green things" (10 items shown, 8 of them green). 9 flowers/"Write the number of bees in the box" (9 bees shown). 10 doughnuts/"Circle the number 10 car" (5 racing cars shown, one sporting a "10"). 11 rubber duckies/"Circle the 11 rubber rings that are exactly the same as each other" (12 multi-colored rings shown, with one different). 12 penguins/"Circle the 12 birds" (15 animals shown, including a rabbit, frog & fish). 13 leaves/"Circle the 13 brown animals" (17 animals shown, 13 of which are brown). 14 frogs/"Circle the 14 trains that are the same" (16 trains shown, with 2 different). 15 shoes/"Circle the 15 blue socks" (21 socks shown, 15 of which are blue). 16 dune buggies/"Count the 16 airplanes, then circle the one that is different from the others" (15 red airplanes, 1 blue airplane shown). 17 zebras/"Circle the 17 rhinos walking the same way" (20 shown, 17 walking right, 3 walking left). 18 cars/"Circle the 18 motorcycles that are the same color" (20 shown, 18 blue, 1 red & 1 yellow). 19 beach balls/"Circle the 19 teddy bears that are the same" (20 shown, all cream colored except for 1 blue). 20 fish/"Circle the 20 red drums" (25 shown, 20 red & 5 blue). 50 ginger bread men/"Circle the 50 cupcakes that have flowers on them" (54 shown, 4 without flowers). 100 orange slices/"Count 100 lemons and circle the limes" (100 lemons, 10 limes shown).
There are four additional 2-sides activity cards. One says "Counting on the Farm" - "Can you find... 7 chickens, 6 ducks, 5 cows, 4 sheep, 3 pigs, 2 horses, and 1 turkey?", and the other side says "Drawing Numbers - Follow the instructions below - Give this race car two more wheels (shows a race car with 2 missing wheels) - Give this teddy bear two eyes (shows a teddy with no eyes) - Draw five spots on this die (shows a die with no spots). A second card says "How Many... cars are ready to race? (shows 3 cars) ... fish are swimming? (shows 4 fish) ... shells can you count? (shows 7 shells) ... parrots are on this perch? (shows 2 parrots), and the other side has a picture of a pig-tailed, bare-footed little girl sitting on a chair, and says "You can use your body to start counting. You have... 1 nose, 2 eyes, 2 ears, 10 fingers, 10 toes. How many legs do you have? How many arms do you have?" A third card has various colorful and different sized shapes, and says "Counting Shapes - How many circles can you count? How many triangles can you count? How many sides does a triangle have? How many squares can you count? How many starts can you count?", and the other side says "Counting Foods - Circle the correct number in each group"... shown are 3 green peppers with the numbers 6, 9, 4, 3 & & underneath, 2 pumpkins with the numbers 3, 5, 1, 8 & 2 underneath, 5 pickles with the numbers 2, 5, 8, 3 & 4 underneath, and 7 tomatoes on a vine with the numbers 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 underneath. A fourth card says "Connect the Dots - Can you guess what these are?" - the top half has dots numbered 1-10 with the words "I float in the sea" underneath (when dots are connected, it forms a sail boat) - the bottom half has dots numbered 1-6 with the words "I work on the farm" (when dots are connected, it forms a tractor), and the other side also says "Connect the Dots - Can you guess what these are?" - the top half has dots numbered 1-8 with the words "I go beep beep" underneath (when dots are connected, it forms a car) - the bottom half has dots numbered 1-10 with the words "I go choo choo" underneath (when dots are connected, it forms a train).
These cards have been taken out and played with - literally - hundreds upon hundreds of times by the older two grandsons, and are still in very decent shape (which is good, since there's a third grandson who'll learn from them as well!) Highly recommend these.

Great for learning
By Nikki M C
I bought this for my 3-year old for Christmas. He loved it. I was surprised how well he was able to trace. Wipes clean and he can start again. This occupied him for hours.
